Ferrari, Mauro Forghieri: the tribute of Angelo Sticchi Damiani
Angelo Sticchi Damiani remembered Mauro Forghieri
On the occasion of the inauguration of Milano AutoClassica, Automobile Club d’Italia President Angelo Sticchi Damiani – for the occasion together with Engineer Piero Ferrari, son of the Drake – warmly remembered the figure of historic engineer Mauro Forghieri, who passed away recently at the age of 87
“A genius – these were the words of the number one of the Car Club – a technical designer, eclectic, professional in Formula 1 and not only, having also worked in Gran Turismo and rallies. An extraordinary talent who contributed to Scuderia Ferrari’s victories: with him 4 drivers’ titles and 7 constructors’ titles. I had the honor of knowing him and the pleasure of seeing him when he taught at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Lecce. My memory is of a pleasant man, sometimes brusque, but always sincere and passionate.”
Ferrari was founded in 1947 by Enzo Ferrari, in Maranello, in the province of Modena. It is involved in the Formula One world championship, where it holds the record for the number of world Constructors’ titles won (16), and in the FIA Sport Prototypes and Endurance world championships. The official symbol is that of the prancing horse on a yellow background, the color representing the city of Modena.
