Vincenzo Nibali on his heir: the bitter response
A legacy that is difficult to take up.
Vincenzo Nibali took stock of his career in an interview granted to ‘Sky Sport,’ admitting that right now Italian cycling does not present someone capable of picking up his baton. However, the hope of the Shark of the Strait, fresh from retirement, is to see this gap filled as soon as possible.
“As far as Italy is concerned, at the moment no,” Nibali replied about the current presence of his possible heir. “This makes me very sorry, and I hope that maybe in the future we can really admire a new great athlete. I don’t feel like saying a new Nibali, but really a new great athlete.”
Nibali then went over his successes and more: “To say which was the best moment of my career is really difficult, because there have been so many. One of the last is definitely Milan-San Remo, but one of the first is probably the first Giro d’Italia. The regret, on the other hand, is not bringing a good medal to the Olympics.”
