Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo held a surprise press conference

Cristiano Ronaldo held a surprise press conference from Portugal’s training camp, where he returned to talk about his situation after the interview that decreed his break with Manchester United: “Stop asking teammates about me, just ask questions about the World Cup. I’m bulletproof anyway, I have a steel vest on. With Bruno Fernandes I was joking, he arrived late and I asked him if he came by ship. And also with Cancelo, he was a little sad and I was trying to cheer him up.”

“I speak when I want to speak, the timing is always the timing,” CR7 continued. Sometimes you write truths, sometimes lies. But everyone knows who I am and what I believe in.”

On the dualism with Messi: “Even if I won the World Cup, this debate would continue. Some people like me more, others less: they are the first to motivate me, not the money. It’s kind of what happens in everyday life, some people prefer blondes and some prefer brunettes…. I believe in the final victory but you have to think race by race.”

To those who say he is waning physically he replies thus, “I would be surprised if I had to prove anything at 37 years and 8 months, after all I have done and won. Obviously it has to be proven season after season. Winning the World Championship would be a dream, but if it doesn’t happen, I will still be proud of what I have done in my career.”
