England-Iran 6-2

Many were waiting for it, and England began its Qatar World Cup with a convincing victory over Iran: 6-2 for Southgate’s team.

Match, in fact, already closed in the first half by the subjects, scoring with Bellingham, Saka and Sterling, lethal between 35′ and 46′. In the second half, shortly after the quarter-hour mark, Saka signed his personal double, increasing the margin. Taremi, with a fine goal, shortened the gap, but then England scored twice more, with newcomers Rashford (in goal after not even a minute of insertion) and Grealish: in short, apart from Harry Kane, who nonetheless dispensed assists and fine plays, almost everyone scored. Almost even Azmoun, who hit the crossbar (good job Pickford) in the midst of recovery. And twice also Taremi, who from the penalty spot – thanks to a generous penalty – scored his side’s second goal seconds before the triple whistle.
