Likely lineups

On Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 23, at 5 p.m. Italian time, Luis Enrique’s Spain will make its Qatar 2022 World Cup debut against Costa Rica in the match that will close the first day of Group E.

The Red Furies’ coach will most likely opt for a 4-3-3: the only ballot is the head-to-head between Nico Williams and Ansu Fati for the starting spot on the left flank; Sarabia should also not be underestimated.

The Central American formation is expected to take the field with a form mirroring the Iberian one: the two references are extreme defender Keylor Navas and striker Joel Campbell.

Probable formations.

SPAIN (4-3-3): Unai Simon; Carvajal, Pau Torres, Laporte, Alba; Gavi, Busquets, Pedri; Ferran Torres, Morata, Ansu Fati. Ct. Luis Enrique.

COSTA RICA (4-3-3): Navas; Castro, Calvo, Duarte, Oviedo; Tejeda, Torres, Ruiz; Borges, Contreras, Campbell. Ct. Suarez.
