Barcelona star in goal at just 18 years and 110 days old

The day after Spain’s bombastic victory in its World Cup opener with Costa Rica (7-0), all anyone is talking about is Gavi. The very young star of the Red Furies, owned by Barcelona, has enchanted everyone. So many excellent comparisons, particularly with Iniesta.

Discomfited even a global icon like Pelé. In fact, Gavi scored his first goal in a World Cup at the age of 18 years and 110 days. Only two players have been earlier than him in World Cup history: Rosas, in 1930 (18 years and 93 days) and a certain Pelé, still the youngest scorer at a World Cup: 17 years and 239 days (1958 World Cup). Gavi, with just one match, has already become a symbol of Qatar 2022.
