A year-end analysis of what the competition was superior in.

Mattia Binotto is back on the Ferrari of 2022, which despite a great farewell to the season ended the championship second behind Red Bull and indeed having to defend itself from the comeback of Mercedes. Results that according to the team principal have explanations, as we read in the pages of ‘Motorsport.com’.

“I think the decisive factors were several,” Binotto explained. “On the development front, I think the first concerns the fact that Red Bull had a clear direction in which to move. It had to focus on reducing the weight of the car. However, this was not our case in Ferrari.”

“They knew exactly what to work on to improve the performance of their car,” Binotto added about Red Bull. “Our task in Ferrari, on the other hand, was more complex, since we had to improve aerodynamically. And now, in retrospect, I think our development was not enough. But we stopped before time also for budget reasons.”
