Cristiano Ronaldo exults, but Bruno Fernandes does it all
Portugal-Uruguay 2-0
Portugal has qualified one round early for the knockout stage of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The 2-0 win against Uruguay, which held out for a half before surrendering to the Lusitanians, was decisive. Unlocking the result was a Bruno Fernandes cross that Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to have deflected slightly on goal but Fifa awarded the goal to the Manchester United-owned midfielder.
Fernandes himself, after CR7 left the field, then signed the double by converting a penalty kick. In the midst of the recovery, the post denied him the joy of a hat trick.
