Rigobert Song doesn’t hide on Onana case

Just hours after the 3-3 draw between Cameroon and Serbia, the Indomitable Lions’ technical commissioner Rigobert Song spoke out in person on the case related to André Onana, whose exclusion from the roster just minutes before kickoff of the match against the Serbians displaced fans and insiders.

“I took the risk of not playing him,” Song said, “I have to ensure discipline: I don’t discuss his qualities but there are 26 players in this team, we need discipline and respect. André is a great goalkeeper, but we focus on the team. Those who do not fit in are right to step aside because the team comes before the individual.”

“Onana asked to leave today, we accepted,” the Cameroon coach further explained. “We came to play the World Cup, we demand discipline and respect. My job is to make sure everyone respects this principle.”
