The sporting director of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer flunks the four teams

A few weeks after the end of the MotoGp championship, which saw Ducati and Pecco Bagnaia triumph, the director of the Borgo Panigale factory, Paolo Ciabatti, spoke about the four Ducati-powered teams: Mooney VR46 Racing Team, Gresini Racing and Pramac Racing.

“I realize that in a medium- to long-term perspective, it is not an ideal solution to have four teams. But when we made the agreements with VR46 and Gresini, Suzuki did not plan to have a satellite team, and later the situation got worse, and they decided to withdraw. And at that time Aprilia was not so attractive, as Gresini preferred to close a two-year deal with us. On Yamaha I can’t say anything, they had a satellite team and they lost it,” the executive admitted in an interview with ‘Speedweek’.

“We have an agreement with them until the end of 2024 and what happens after that I cannot evaluate. The team is made up of serious people and the riders are very happy with the Desmosedici and the results they are getting are showing that. I feel sorry for Yamaha,” Ciabatti concluded.
