Hamilton promises new sparks with Verstappen
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are no strangers to fiery duels, the latest of which came during qualifying in the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos. It was precisely with regard to that clash that the Mercedes driver returned to speak to Sky’s microphones: “Yes, I think there will be more tense moments with Verstappen. I will try to adapt, you have seen how over the years I have always tried to avoid contact. I’m sure we will grow, as will the teams, and we will improve in that sense. Or at least I hope so, so we will try not to repeat experiences like the one in Brazil. I think many people want to try to beat me and win as many world championships as possible, that was also my goal when I arrived in 2007, it’s natural. First I wanted to beat Fernando and Kimi, he was one of the best, and the same thing happened with Seb, so it’s totally understandable.”
It was Sebastian Vettel who was the first driver to win a world championship with Red Bull. The German put everyone in line for four years in a row, from 2010 to 2013. The Austrian stable returned to success in 2021 thanks to Dutchman Max Verstappen, with the son of art repeating the following year. If there was a battle to the last in 2021, that was not the case in 2022.
