Matteo Berrettini ahead of Novak Djokovic in a special ranking
Berrettini surpasses Djokovic in a special ranking
Having archived the tennis season with the triumph of the usual Novak Djokovic at the ATP Finals and Canada’s historic first win in the Davis Cup – with more than one regret for the Azzurri -, it is time to take a look at the rankings. One of them, visible on the official ATP website sees Matteo Berrettini ahead of Novak Djokovic. We are talking about the ranking of the best servers during the 2022 season, specifically those who have held their own serve more times.
If the top 3 consists of Australian Nick Kyrgios, American John Isner, and Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, in fifth position, after American Maxime Cressy, we find Matteo Berrettini, with Novak Djokovic just below – he occupies the sixth position. The Italian boasts a 87.80% service game won percentage with 504 games won out of 574 played in 41 total matches. Djokovic, who has also played more – 49 total matches -, has a lower percentage of 87.71 percent with 528 service games won out of 602 played. Completing the top 10 in that order are Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime and Croatia’s Marin Cilic. Jannik Sinner is ‘only’ in 19th position.
