F1, Laurent Rossi admits, “Alpine game in ruins”
Alpine finished ahead of McLaren
Alpine ended the season with an excellent fourth place in the constructors’ standings, ahead of McLaren. An outstanding result that, for how the year had started, smacks of a miracle, as Rossi, the French team’s CEO, explained to Motorsport.com.
“We started in ruins. We started the season in very bad conditions. The plan? To carry on the development of the car as late as possible. I remember, at the beginning of the season, no one thought we would finish the championship higher than eighth place finish. McLaren seemed to be faster. So I’m glad we were able to catch up and overtake them,” Rossi’s own words.
