MotoGp, Marc Marquez raises the alarm
Marc Marquez raises the alarm
During an interview with “Autosport,” Marc Marquez underlined his concern regarding a MotoGp now increasingly modeled after Formula One, that is, where it is no longer the riders who make the difference but the bike, or of course, in the case of F1, the car.
The eight-time world champion said, “As the years go by, it seems to me that the bike is becoming more important than the rider. The rider is even more important than the bike, or that’s what I want to believe. But each time you depend more and more on what you have, because if you don’t have a competitive bike you can’t do anything.”
“It is not like Formula 1, which is an extreme thing, but we are going in that direction and we have to be careful,” the Honda rider continued. “And I have already said in some Safety Commissions that we have to be careful, because in the end we have to keep this idea that the riders are more important than the bikes. This is one thing, but with the current bikes the fastest riders are the ones who are in the lead; these are Bastianini, Bagnaia, Quartararo, Aleix Espargaro this year. We’ll see if we can fight with them in the future,” Marquez concluded.
