Romelu Lukaku, after world flop comes Chelsea’s decision

The Blues have no plans to welcome Big Rom back into their ranks at the end of the season

After 9 minutes on the pitch in the match against Morocco, which marked the first wake-up call for the Roberto Martinez-coached lineup, Romelu Lukaku was thrown into the fray for 45 minutes in the decisive Group F match between his Belgium side and Luka Modric’s Croatia. The result of a perhaps too hasty recovery of the Nerazzurri bomber were the three incredible goal chances devoured by the striker, who was inconsolable and desperate at the end of the match.

After what to all intents and purposes we can define as a worldwide flop, Chelsea, still the owner of Big Rom’s tag, has reportedly decided to reopen as of now to a loan renewal in favor of Inter. The conditions signed last summer — temporary transfer for 8 million euros plus 4 million in bonuses — could be renewed perhaps with an even lower outlay, claims ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’.

Chelsea, which on the incoming player front continues its frantic pressing on Rafael Leao, would therefore have abandoned altogether the idea of welcoming the former Anderlecht man back to the squad at the end of this season: excellent news for Inter and its fans, provided, however, that the Belgian returns to being that dominating player who contributed greatly to the 2020-21 Scudetto under Antonio Conte.
