Sofia Goggia: coach explains double exploit.
The secrets of the exploit, explained by his coach.
Sofia Goggia treated herself to a dream Saturday in Lake Louise, Canada, where she went two for two in the downhill. A double exploit that also allows her to put in her sights the record of Federica Brignone, the Italian record holder, who has collected 20 World Cup successes so far. The Bergamasque, in fact, is at 19.
Framing the secrets of her double triumph, at the microphones of ‘Sky Sport’, was her coach Luca Agazzi. “Great race for Sofia. Of course there was wind and the start was lowered,” he noted, “making it a bit more of a sprint race. So they all really pressed on the accelerator, and she was good at pulling the right lines. She also pushed hard in the final part, there was a crucial point after the jump. There she got the right ramp, and that allowed her to find a lot of speed in the final part.”
“I’m very satisfied,” Sofia Goggia had warmly declared at the end of the race, “from the coaches’ corner down I skied exactly as I wanted, threading the wanted lines and took the ramps perfectly. Surely the wind bothered me coming out of the flat, but overall I led a much more concrete race than on Friday, I had a winning set up.”
