European Volleyball Championships 2023, starting with the Arena of Verona

The CEV has released the calendars of next year’s continental reviews, which will see Italy playing a major role. For the first time in history the European Volleyball Championships, in fact, will touch 9 cities in our country.

Romania will be the first opponent of the Italian women’s national team in the European Volleyball Championship 2023, a tournament organized by Belgium and Italy. The continental champions will make their debut in the marvelous location of the Arena of Verona on August 15 against Romania, then face Switzerland (August 18) and Bulgaria (August 19) in Monza, and finally close round B in Turin, where they will stage challenges against Bosnia and Herzegovina (August 22) and Croatia (August 23). In Italy, more precisely in Florence, 4 Round of 16 and 2 Quarterfinals will also be played, while Semifinals and Finals will be held in Brussels.

The pools will be played under the round robin formula, at the end of which the top four finishers in each group will advance to the Round of 16 In the Quarterfinals (in Brussels and Florence) the winning teams that played the Round of 16 in the same country will face each other. The semifinals and finals will be played in Brussels.

In the first phase, the world and European champions coached by Ferdinando De Giorgi will make their debut on Aug. 28 at the Foro Italico against Belgium; they will then face Estonia and Serbia in Perugia on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, and then move to Ancona where they will face Switzerland and Germany on Sept. 4 and 6.

The quarterfinals (in Bari and Varna) will face the winning teams that played the round of 16 in the same country. The semifinals and finals will be played in Bologna, according to this schedule.
