Tennis, Jannik Sinner is first among Italians not only in ATP ranking

In addition to finishing the 2022 season in first place among Italian tennis players (15th worldwide), Jannik Sinner is also the top Italian athlete in another significant ranking, that of prize money earned based on results in the calendar year.
In the world ranking, which sees ATP No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz ($10,102,330 earned by the Spaniard in the calendar year) ahead of Novak Djokovic ($9,934,582) and Rafa Nadal ($9,368,326), Sinner is 14th with $2,855,466 earned after tournaments played this year and has no other compatriots ahead of him.
Behind him are four other Italian athletes in the Top 100: Matteo Berrettini is 18th with $2,193,774 earned, Lorenzo Musetti 29th with $1,661,181, Lorenzo Sonego 42nd with $1,210,391 and Fabio Fognini 43rd with $1,199,767.
