Genoa, Marchetti lashes out at Blessin: the outburst is harsh

The outburst of the former Grifone goalkeeper

On Tuesday, Nov. 6, Genoa announced the dismissal of Alexander Blessin, whose place was taken by Alberto Gilardino, who was appointed interim coach.

The day after the news broke, the former goalkeeper of the Rossoblù club Federico Marchetti lashed out, in no uncertain terms, at the German coach who took over from Andriy Shevchenko in January 2022.

The extreme defender commented on the latest post, dated Oct. 22, on Blessin’s Instagram profile: “You are the most scarce, false and conceited of the coaches I have had in my long career. You have fooled all Genoa fans from day one, you have relegated a team that without your ridiculous football ideas could have been saved.”

“Now that you have finally gone home, take a bath in humility, look at Davide Nicola and try to learn from him how to manage a group to get results on the field, and not the fans’ chants, as you did! Good luck, and forza Genoa,” Marchetti continued, harshly.
