Zangrillo and Blazquez’s welcome for the former Primavera coach.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, Genoa’s management promoted Alberto Gilardino, former Primavera coach who takes over from the exonerated Alexander Blessin, to first team coach, albeit ‘ad interim’.

Total confidence on the part of the Grifone managers, starting with CEO Andres Blazquez, who gave his assessment of the new coach to the ‘Secolo XIX’: “We have great confidence in him, he is a world champion and world champions in this Serie B are doing very well. With the Primavera in these months he has already shown his qualities as a coach.”

Then the number one of the Ligurian club, Alberto Zangrillo, also spoke, leaving a message for the Rossoblù Primavera: “Genoa is a family and if coach Gilardino is with the first team right now it must be a source of pride for you as well. Your results are there for all to see and the credit goes to you players, coaches, trainers, staff, warehouse workers. Your coach today is happy to have come to coach the first team but tremendously sad because he had to leave you. This is the message he wanted to leave me and I bring you: in the next Primavera championship game put your soul into it for you, for Gila, for all of us. For Genoa.”
