MLB, Pittsburgh Pirates get first pick in upcoming draft

MLB 2023 draft is scheduled for July (17-19)
It will be the Pittsburgh Pirates who will be the first pick in the upcoming MLB draft, scheduled for July (17-19). Much satisfaction in the words of general manager Ben Cherington: “Every once in a while, in this game, it helps to have a little luck.”
For the Pirates, this is the sixth time they have won the first call-up in the draft, the second in the past three years (in 2021, with the No. 1 call-up, they selected Louisville catcher Henry Davis). The next five picks, respectively, went to the Washington Nationals, Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers, Minnesota Twins and Oakland Athletics.
