Charles Leclerc, message to Ferrari: “No more frustration, I trust”
Frustration with the recent past, confidence toward the future.
Charles Leclerc returns to talk about Ferrari, Mattia Binotto and the Formula 1 world championship in a long interview granted to Roberto Chinchero for ‘Motorsport.com,’ reiterating concepts already expressed at the FIA Gala held in Bologna. And on the future of the Maranello stable, he said, “I trust the choices that John Elkann and Benedetto Vigna will make.”
“In my season, the positive aspects were many, not as much satisfaction,” Leclerc revealed. “Ferrari was coming from two very difficult years, and coming second was a good step forward. The middle part of the season, however, was very frustrating, so my feelings about 2022 are mixed.”
“With new tires and little gasoline we were going really strong,” Leclerc added about the Ferrari F1-75. However, we often paid a heavy price on Sunday in the race. Now the goal is to play for the title, we are working on it. And although we are in a transition period, I have full confidence that the right decisions will be made.” And on Binotto: “He believed in me from the beginning, I can only thank him. I respect his decision to leave.”
