F1, Gunther Steiner’s harsh sentence on Mick Schumacher
At Formula 1 microphones Gunther Steiner, team principal of Haas, returned to the separation from Mick Schumacher: “No doubt he did a good job, it is undeniable, however, we needed something different. I think it was the best choice for the growth of the team, we want to return to the levels of 2018 and 2019, resume a bit the path interrupted by various factors including the pandemic.”
“This year we have collected important data for the development of the car, and our guys are working at full speed to assemble a level car. We can achieve our goals if we continue with this work schedule, let’s say I’m quite confident that we can finally take the next step,” Steiner concluded.
Ralf Schumacher, Mick’s uncle, spoke in an interview with Formel1 in recent days: “Not confirming him in Haas was a decision that made little sense, even comparing Mick with the other rookies and calculating Mick’s completely useless first year. When you see the newcomers, Tsunoda, Zhou and indeed Mick, it is quite clear that Mick is one of the best, if not the best among this trio. Of course criticism is allowed, but often it was too severe. It is a pity, because under those circumstances a driver cannot give his best.”
