Torrent in Padua

Vincenzo Torrente is the new coach of Padova: he takes Bruno Caneo’s place on the Veneto team’s bench.

Torrente was born in Cetara (Salerno) on February 12, 1966. As a defender, he wore the Genoa jersey 412 times (third Rossoblù in history in terms of appearances behind Ruotolo and Becattini) from 1985 to 2000, starting his career in Nocerina and ending it at Alessandria.

As a coach he began his career in Genoa’s youth ranks, paired with Rino Lavezzini, in 2002-2003. In 2007 he won the Viareggio Tournament with the Primavera team. In 2009, with Luigi Simoni as technical director, he sat on the Gubbio bench, leading the Eugubini first to a promotion to the Lega Pro Prima Divisione (via playoffs) and to a historic promotion to Serie B in 2011. The following year he signed for Bari, with whom he finished 13th. He rejoined Luigi Simoni as technical director the following year at Cremonese, subsequently sitting on the benches of Salernitana and Vicenza as well. In 2018/2019 he leads Sicula Leonzio to a historic salvation as a sub, before returning to Gubbio in October 2019. He returned to the Umbrian land after 8 years, leading the team to salvation starting from the penultimate place and ending the season in 15th place, being confirmed as technical guide also in 2020/2021 (12th place) and 2021/2022 (7th place).
