Elena Curtoni shows her muscles: ‘In difficult conditions I bring out the best in me’
Elena Curtoni triumphed in the women’s World Cup downhill in Sankt Moritz. These are her words, “This slope always speaks a little bit to me, I like it a lot. In the downhill I had made my first career podium here, I have good memories, I feel good and probably when there are difficult conditions I can bring out the best in me. My instincts can be seen working the right way.”
“I knew that in speed I can be with the best, in downhill last year the season didn’t go as I wanted and hoped, but this year I wanted to take a step forward. Already from Lake Louise I was off on the right foot, I’m happy and now on with it. It will be sunny in the next few days, we will have to start from scratch and I will be ready to give battle. I am also looking forward to the superg on Sunday how it will go. My whole family was here today, a key part since I’m also close to home-I’m glad they are there to share this joy.”
Federica Brignone expressed herself this way, “Very happy because it was a difficult race. In these conditions I can adapt pretty quickly, you could see very little but I am very happy. Too bad at the bottom that I still lost a little bit, but compared to Lake Louise I would say that the music has changed completely.”
“I was finally able to get back to doing what I love, what I missed so much: hitting two top tens in the first two stages is a nice Christmas present. Hop was lucky enough to have done a run in the dark yesterday as well, even though you couldn’t see anything so I tried to trust and I did it. It surprised me, but it was good,” said Laura Pirovano.
