Sofia Goggia stronger than anything: victory with a broken hand
Sofia Goggia’s victory
Not even a fractured hand stopped Sofia Goggia.
Indeed, the Bergamo-born skier, who was injured Friday in practice, triumphed in the downhill in St. Moritz competing with a conspicuous brace.
Goggia won with a time of 1’28″85, ahead of Slovenia’s Ilka Stuhec (+0″43) and Germany’s Kira Weidle (+0″52).
For the 30-year-old Italian it is the 20th victory in the World Cup (the 15th in this specialty): equaled her great rival Federica Brignone as the most successful Italian in history.
