Australian Open, Italian invasion in the qualifying entry list
Qualifying will kick off Jan. 9 on the concrete at Melbourne Park
Among the men, Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Musetti, Lorenzo Sonego and Fabio Fognini are already certain to participate in the Australian Open, the first Slam of the 2023 season. On the other hand, for the Italian colors, the women’s draw includes Martina Trevisan, Lucia Bronzetti, Jasmine Paolini, Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Camila Giorgi.
These 10 athletes representing our country could be joined by others from the qualifying draw. The Italian patrol could be much more numerous, if we consider that there will be as many as 18, in total, Italian tennis players who will try to enter the main draw through the preliminary tournament.
Marco Cecchinato (no.101 ATP), Francesco Passaro (no.119 ATP), Matteo Arnaldi (no.134 ATP), Luca Nardi (no.135 ATP), Franco Agamenone (no.139 ATP), Mattia Bellucci (no.153 ATP), Giulio Zeppieri (no.161 ATP), Flavio Cobolli (no.171 ATP), Andrea Pellegrino (no.181 ATP), Riccardo Bonadio (no.187 ATP), Raul Brancaccio (no.194 ATP), Francesco Maestrelli (no.200 ATP), Luciano Darderi (no.206 ATP), Gianluca Mager (no.212 ATP), Andrea Vavassori (no.213 ATP) and Roberto Marcora (no.216 ATP) are the 16 men included in the qualifying entry list, which will kick off on Jan. 9.
