World anxious about Pelé: “More care needed”
Condition increasingly critical for Brazilian legend
Hospitalized in the São Paulo hospital for three weeks now, Edson Arantes do Nascimento — known to everyone as Pelé — is receiving treatment related to “kidney and heart dysfunction,” as his doctors stated on Wednesday.
From Albert Einstein Hospital, the new bulletin on the condition of the three-time world champion, who is battling colon cancer, speaks of “a progression of the oncological disease that requires further treatment related to renal and cardiac dysfunction.”
“Our Christmas at home has been suspended. We have decided with the doctors that, for several reasons, it will be better to stay here in the hospital, with all the medical care,” specified uan of the daughters, Flavia Arantes, in a message spread through her social channels.
