Blaise Matuidi says enough: former Juventus man announces retirement
Won three championships in Italy, now leaves soccer.
Blaise Matuidi announces his retirement. The now former French midfielder says enough at 35 years of age, the last two spent in MLS at Inter Miami. As early as May 2021, he is also sporting director of Miami City. In his trophy cabinet, the 2018 world champion also boasts the three league titles won at Juventus between 2018 and 2020.
“Dear soccer, I loved you so much. And you have given me so much, but the time has come to stop. I have fulfilled my dreams as a child and my dreams as a man. I have a lump in my throat, but I am proud of the fact that I am turning over a new leaf. Thank you to the people who have accompanied me on this journey. Thank you to the teammates who have become friends and brothers. Thank you to my coaches, managers, absolute level players and my family,” Matuidi explained in a video posted on his official Instagram page.
