F1, Mattia Binotto reveals a backstory on Sebastian Vettel
Mattia Binotto makes a confession about Sebastian Vettel
Former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto-who has been replaced by Frederic Vasseur-has told a backstory about Sebastian Vettel when the German driver raced for the Maranello-based team.
As reported by Marca, Binotto confessed, “It was very difficult for me to have to tell him that we were not going to renew his contract. It was perhaps the most difficult task I have faced in my career, because when you love someone like him and you really enjoy working with him, it is always difficult to get to the end and have to execute the decision you have already made. It was also an important moment in my career. Through the difficulties, you become stronger. But this is the one we will remember as the most difficult.”
“Seb is a great driver and it’s not just about me. Just look at what he has accomplished: he is fantastic, outstanding, incredible…. In Ferrari we were lucky to have him on the team for six important years (2015 to 2020). He brought a lot as a driver, but more importantly as a person. It is an irrefutable fact that all Ferrari fans still love Sebastian. Those were incredible years,” concluded the former Rossa executive.
