Andrea Stella warns about Ferrari: “They are happy with the new car.”
McLaren’s new team principal Andrea Stella-who was Fernando Alonso’s track engineer at Ferrari for five seasons-has made a few statements after being recently honored by the municipality of Orvieto for sporting merit.
“The teams to beat, even in the coming season, are Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes, which at the moment compete in a different category from ours,” the new boss of the Woking-based stable said in statements reported by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I expect a very strong reaction from Mercedes, although I know that Ferrari is very happy with the new car and, therefore, will definitely have a competitive start.”
“For us at McLaren, I still expect a difficult start, but I am optimistic for the second half of the season. The most important goal is to make a fast car. It is crucial to set simple goals, with solutions that can also be very complex,” Stella concluded.
