Virgil van Dijk and Argentina trauma: ‘I didn’t sleep for two days’
In the World Cup quarterfinal match in Qatar between Netherlands Argentina, Virgil van Dijk missed a penalty kick. It was not easy for the defender to overcome the injury: “I didn’t tame for two days. It hurt a lot, I had a couple of very difficult nights. To get over it I went on vacation and enjoyed my family. That’s the most important thing,” he told Viaplay.
Van Dijk was born in Breda on July 8, 1991. He grew up in Willem II, then moved on to Groningen. In 2013 he was bought from Celtic and in 2015 he moved to Southampton in England. In 2018 the Dutch defender signed a contract with Liverpool.
