Valentino Rossi still the most popular: wins by a landslide

Valentino Rossi is the most followed Italian sportsman with more than 32 million followers.
Valentino Rossi clearly remains Italy’s most beloved sportsman, with over 32 million followers between Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The Doctor wins by detachment the special social ranking of Italian sportsmen: on the podium with him are Gianluigi Buffon (26 million) and Mario Balotelli, 24 million.
At the foot of the podium is former Juventus and Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo (22 million followers), ahead of coach Carlo Ancelotti and Giorgio Chiellini, now at Los Angeles FC.
The bottom of the top ten always sees soccer in the spotlight with Marco Verratti (15 million), Stephan El Shaarawy, Leonardo Bonucci and Claudio Marchisio.
