Fatal quarterfinals, in Adelaide, for Jannik Sinner: the South Tyrolean tennis player was in fact defeated by American Sebastian Korda 7-5, 6-1, after an hour and twenty-two minutes of play on the concrete of the South Australian state capital.

Sinner squandered three set points at 5-4 before collapsing in the second fraction, however, accomplice to a new physical problem, a muscular resentment at hip height that practically cancelled the presence on the court of the native of San Candido, who was nevertheless able to bring the match to an end, despite winning only one game in the set that proved decisive.

It remains, therefore, to evaluate Sinner’s situation very carefully: in a very few days, in fact, the Australian Open will kick off, and the worry of a new injury is keeping Italian fans and insiders with bated breath.
