Marco Lanna, idea arrives to honor Gianluca Vialli’s memory
The current number one of the Ligurian club was Vialli’s teammate at Samp in the 1991 Scudetto-winning year
For a Genoese man like him, it must have been special to win the Scudetto – the first and so far the only one in the history of the Blucerchiato club – wearing the jersey of his hometown team. Marco Lanna, the current president of Sampdoria, will never be able to forget the 1991 Mancini#38;Vialli-targeted triumph, when precisely the tricolor came. The bond between the late striker from Cremona and the city of Genoa has never been broken.
Precisely for this reason, also out of a sense of gratitude to a footballer but above all a man who gave so much to Italian soccer, the number one of the Ligurian club launched a proposal. Anticipated to the microphones of the ‘Corriere dello Sport’ during an interview.
“Vialli was a positive leader. A non-divisive man. One of those you watched carefully because he was balanced, never a word out of place. I grew up thanks to Luca. I want a tournament, the Luca Vialli tournament. It’s something that came to my mind, it could be nice. For Luca, to do something on an institutional level as well, over time. We always talked about it with him: to put up initiatives with the purpose of sharing, to do charity. Something we will do,” he said.
