Vincenzo Malagò, Giovanni’s father, has died: he was 90 years old
Vincenzo Malagò, former sports executive and father of the current president of CONI, Giovanni, has died at the age of 90. It was the Olympic Committee itself that confirmed the news, with a note published through its official channels.
“Vincenzo Malagò, father of CONI President Giovanni, has passed away in Rome at the age of 90,” the statement reads. “He had been a soccer executive, in Roma and in the organization of the Italia ’90 World Cup, passing on to his son his same genuine passion for sport. In his very long entrepreneurial activity he was also a point of reference in the automotive sector with the Ferrari, Maserati and BMW brands.”
“The Deputy Vice President of CONI, Silvia Salis, the Secretary General, Carlo Mornati, together with the National Council and Board, CONI staff and the entire sporting world, participate movingly in the serious mourning that has struck the President and the entire Malagò family,” the note concludes.
