Cocciaretto beaten in the final
Bummer. Elisabetta Cocciaretto, a major player at the WTA tournament in Hobart, Tasmania, which she also chose to finish her preparation for the Australian Open, succumbed in the last act. In her first final on the major circuit, the 21-year-old from the Marche region came very close to winning the first set and then ended up surrendering 7-6(0) 6-2 against Lauren Davis, a former top 30 player now number 84 in the rankings.
Starting Monday, Cocciaretto will be the new number 2 in Italy behind Martina Trevisan.
