Simone Vagnozzi has no doubts about Jannik Sinner

On the eve of the Australian Open round of 16 that will face Jannik Sinner and Stefanos Tsitsipas, the coach of the South Tyrolean, Simone Vagnozzi, in addition to expressing utmost confidence for Sunday’s match, also spoke about the San Candido native’s improvement, looking beyond the outcome of the Slam on Australian cement.

“Last year we always had to chase injuries, now we have found the right balance without distorting his qualities,” Vagnozzi told ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport,’ referring also to the physical problems that affected Sinner in 2022. “Jannik has grown on serve and the runs to the net are no longer extemporaneous, but he feels them as a natural extension of his game. And there he can go even higher.”

Turning to the match against the Greek, he added, “We know that a very tough match awaits us, we are facing two players who want to take control of the exchange right away and then open up the court, the shots at the beginning of the game will be crucial, i.e. serve to response. In the meantime, I can promise you that the results of 2023 will be better than the already good results of 2022, with the understanding that the path will still take some time to reach ultimate completeness.”
