Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino on the assault of Kronplatz
Double date between Tuesday, Jan. 24 and Wednesday, Jan. 25
Eight Italian women racers will take part in the double date of the Women’s Giant World Cup in Kronplatz. Two races are scheduled on the extremely difficult Erta slope on Tuesday, Jan. 24 and Wednesday, Jan. 25 (first run at 10:30 a.m., second run at 1:30 p.m. with live television coverage on Rai 2 and Eurosport on both days), the second of which makes up for the one cancelled in Spindleruv Mlyn.
Federica Brignone, Marta Bassino, Asja Zenere, Elisa Platino, Roberta Melesi, Karoline Pichler, Laura Pirovano and Laura Steinmair will be at the start. Italy boasts one victory in history with Brignone in 2017 (who was then also third in 2018), while Bassino placed third in 2017, 2019 and 2021. Rounding out the giant slalom calendar next will be the March 10 event in Are (Sve) and the March 19 final in Soldeu. The specialty ranking sees Bassino leading with 425 points ahead of Shiffrin with 400 and Gut-Behrami with 357, Brignone is fifth with 304, behind Vlhova with 336.
