Bologna wins at Franchi, Fiorentina increasingly down
An outside victory that has no small bearing on the standings.
Bologna ran away at the Franchi, where the derby of the Apennines ended 1-2 and allowed the Rossoblù to stretch further in the standings over rival Fiorentina. Now the Emiliani are at 29, just one point away from seventh place that could mean Conference League. Now almost definitely cut off are the violets, 12th and stuck at 24 points.
Bologna started the match in the best of ways, with Zirkzee, Schouten and Ferguson already dangerous in the first ten minutes. Instead, it is 14′ when Orsolini transforms the penalty awarded for a hand in the box by Barak scouted by the Var. Fiorentina tried to react with Nico Gonzalez, but it was Saponara who equalized in the 19th minute with a tap-in on an earlier attempt by his Argentine teammate. And the match remains vibrant, with many chances for both teams: the most spectacular one happens again to Saponara, who acrobatically hits the crossbar.
However, the match is decided in the opening minutes of the second half, thanks to Posch’s header in the 47th minute on a corner by the usual Orsolini. Fiorentina did not react, indeed Zirkzee and Orsolini missed the shot of the tris. Only in the last half hour did the Viola increase the pressure, but Jovic’s header and an all too prissy Cabral did not give Vincenzo Italiano the equalizer.
