“He gave me sincere compliments”: Federica Brignone’s eyes sparkle
Federica Brignone’s eyes shine.
Federica Brignone gave Italy its first gold medal of the World Championships in Courchevel-Meribel with her triumph in the alpine combined. “It was an almost perfect race, I had the luck and the ability to keep my focus on my skiing and my performance,” she told RTL 102.5. “I kept other thoughts out of it and tried to give my best. I am very proud,” she continued. “With training you know more or less what your maximum is, so you realize what you are doing in the race. Sometimes, however, you don’t know what’s going on relative to others. I did not expect to get this result, in this discipline I have achieved so much during my career however getting the gold was not at all obvious.”
Brignone also spoke about Mikaela Shiffrin, the most successful female skier of all time: “She is very focused, she almost looks like a robot. She’s 27 years old and very strong, she’s a good girl and she gave me sincere compliments.”
