Sofia Goggia commented on her and Federica Brignone’s debut: “She dug a chasm.”

Sofia Goggia far from the top after the SuperG round valid for the women’s combined event of the ongoing World Alpine Ski Championships in Meribel. The Italian skier did not look for time but preferred to study the course and gain confidence ahead of Wednesday and Saturday’s races.

“I approached this test very calmly. I was coming down with bib No. 3 and without great references,” Sofia explained. “I did not push because I wanted to get familiar with the course, also because I was not playing for medals and therefore it did not make sense to take excessive risks.

Sofia Goggia also commented on the excellent first run of her national teammate Federica Brignone: “Federica dug an abyss compared to the others, I, on the other hand, approached it with serenity at the end, I was calm. Good first run as an approach.”
