Napoli, De Laurentiis armors his champions: ‘We will not collapse’
Naples president: “If I want to produce a good show, I want to have the best performers.”
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis in an interview with Bild incensed Spalletti’s team, armoring the Azzurri champions who have exploded this season: “Osimhen is not for sale. The most prominent players are in demand, yes. But I don’t have to sell one. We have no debts. If I want to produce a good show, I want to have the best performers. And I have them.”
“In the 400 films I have produced, I have had the best actors and directors in Italian and world cinema. And it was the same in soccer with Lavezzi, Cavani, Jorginho, Higuaín, Hamsik or now Osimhen or Kvaratskhelia. I don’t think players like Kvaratskhelia or Osimhen leave in the summer.”
De Laurentiis does not fear sudden collapses: “If you have a good team, in a healthy club with a great coach, why would you collapse? We are like a stock on the stock market that is going up. If negative and out of the ordinary things are not happening, there is no reason why we should lose ground. I don’t think about fear; I’m basically a warrior. We have a strong team, but the best teams in Europe and the world are in the Champions League. I believe Napoli can win the Champions League, just as the bookmakers do, but they also see us as the fourth or fifth most likely candidate.”
