Jannik Sinner in final, fils lasts only one set
Jannik Sinner has qualified for the final act of the Atp 250 Montpellier
Jannik Sinner continues his run in the Atp 250 tournament in Montpellier: after beating compatriot Lorenzo Sonego on Friday in the quarters, the Azzurro qualified for the final of the transalpine tournament thanks to a two-set win over rising star and home favorite Arthur Fils.
The South Tyrolean tennis player folded the 18-year-old Frenchman, world number 130, in two sets with scores of 7-5, 6-2. Sinner took a risk in the first set, when he nullified two set points in the 10th game, then hit the break in the 11th game and closed the partial with ease. In the second ours raised the level and with two breaks flew to 4-0 breaking his opponent psychologically, then controlled until 6-2.
Sinner, in his eighth final on the Atp circuit, will face the winner of the match between Rune and Cressy. The Azure has won six tournaments so far: twice in Sofia, once in Melbourne, the Atp 500 in Washington, then in Aversa and Umag.
