AX comeback but, in the finale, Leonessa more scratchy

First big surprise at the Final Eight of the Italian Cup being held at the Pala Alpitour in Turin. Olimpia, winner of the last two editions, exits immediately, outplayed by a stunning Leonessa Brescia (75-72 the final).

Underwhelming race of the whole AX, betrayed by the defense and its key men at the top moment of the match. In the Brescia house, excellent collective proof. As many as five players in double figures in points. The contribution of former Della Valle (10 points) was excellent. In the red and white house, Baron’s 18 points were not enough.

In the first half of the game, Olimpia was unrecognizable. After a first quarter marked by many rather marked mistakes, the biancorossi suffer a tremendous partial in the next 10′. At halftime, deservedly, Brescia is ahead by 16 points (45-29) with an excellent 17/30 from the field. On the resumption, Messina’s team tries to shake it off. Datome is on fire. In one minute, Milanese ahead in the score (55-54). Baron begins to exalt as well. The Leonessa scratches with less effectiveness but does not raise the white flag. Final sprint. In the convulsive final, former Della Valle puts in two heavy free throws. Milan is not lucid. Leonessa is glacial at the free throws and celebrates a real feat. Another heavy thud for Coach Messina’s gang.
