Mikaela Shiffrin: sensational turn of events in the middle of the World Cup.
Surprise move for the ski star
Mikaela Shiffrin has decided to part ways with Mike Day, her coach of seven years, right in the middle of the Alpine Ski World Championships in Courchevel-Meribel.
Surprise decision for the U.S. ski star, holder of the all-time record for World Cup victories. “Mikaela will continue with a new team and the support of Team USA coaches for the remainder of the season and into the future. The team would like to thank Mike Day for his hard work and success over the past seven years,” Team USA wrote in a note.
Shiffrin, silver in last week’s Super-G, is aiming for gold in both Thursday’s giant slalom and next Saturday’s slalom.
