Marta Bassino does not repeat in the giant: “Some regret is there”
Marta Bassino’s words at the end of the women’s giant slalom event in Courchevel-Meribel
Marta Bassino did not repeat in the women’s Giant slalom event of the World Ski Championships in Courchevel-Meribel. The Piedmontese skier, winner in the SuperG, finished in fifth place, 8 tenths behind Shiffrin, who won the race ahead of a wonderful Federica Brignone.
Bassino commented on her run this way, “I knew I threw the race a little bit in the first run, I knew I could recover. I take away the skiing, which is good. These are dry races and that’s how it was today. I go away happy from these World Championships, some regret there is for the giant slalom. For the rest of the season I know I can count on the giant and super-G. I’ve always started in the giant, but I’ve always done speed and I know I’m skiing well in both disciplines. Now, three days of rest and then back to Crans Montana.”
