Elia Viviani has clear ideas after double disappointment
Elia Viviani ready for UAE Tour
After the double disappointment at the European Track Cycling Championships in Grenchen, Elia Viviani is ready to make up for it on the road, wearing the Ineos Grenadiers jersey at the UAE Tour. The Veronese rider, in the continental event held last week, had first missed the podium in the Elimination and then was forced, due to flu, to skip the Omnium.
“I’m on the way out of the flu, I’m better – are Viviani’s words, collected by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ -. On Monday I did a double session on the rollers so I didn’t get air knocks. Tuesday three hours and I was so-so, a little weak. Wednesday four hours with sprints and climbs behind way, and I was much better. Thursday, three hours with uphill work. Here in the Emirates, in the heat, I will have two days to fully settle down.”
Viviani will be at the start of the race on Emirati roads with other top sprinters such as Caleb Ewan, Mark Cavendish, Sam Bennett, Dylan Groenewegen and Fernando Gaviria.
