Pozzecco pushes Panathinaikos away
Azzurri coach Gianmarco Pozzecco spoke on the sidelines of the presentation of the new national team jerseys, dismissing market rumors that Panathinaikos is on his trail: “I don’t have time to think about anything else. The truth is that something unexpected happened to me, not that I did not want to become a father, but because my wife and I had a stormy path and now we are happy to have crowned our dream of having a daughter. I’m already struggling this week because I have to make sure these boys honor the blue jersey, so I don’t have time to think about other things right now.”
“Last year in Berlin during the European Championships, Achille Polonara’s baby was born and I told him to go home to his wife, but he decided not to leave the team,” Pozzecco continued. “Today, that I am a father, I understand the sacrifice that one of my boys made for the Azzurri jersey. President Petrucci had told me how excited I would be to hear the anthem as a coach. In Trieste, I understood that he had told the truth.”
