F1, Jenson Button categorical about Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes
The 2009 world champion has his say on the 2023 title fight
With only a few days to go before the start of the new F1 season, Jenson Button wanted to comment on what his expectations are for this new season. Speaking to ‘Sky Sport Uk,’ the 2009 world champion said that, in his view, there will be many chances to see a three-way clash for the World Championship victory.
“Red Bull is the only one we haven’t really seen, because it’s last year’s car,” Button began, “but they always manage to bring out a competitive car over there, I think they will be among the frontrunners again this year. The Ferrari looks very good, they seem to have worked on the weak points and also taken some interesting risks, overall the car looks very good.”
“For me the surprise will be Mercedes. The car is beautiful. Maybe they will change something between now and the first race, but they clearly have a lot of confidence in this car. I’m looking forward to the fight up there at the front. I am convinced that at some point in the season we will have this three-team fight for the final victory,” concluded Button on the possible inclusion of the Brackley stable in the championship contest.
